EDWARDS REMODEL CONTRACTING
MASTER BATHROOM & SHOWER REMODEL
in Austin, Texas
This full master bathroom renovation in Austin, Texas transformed a cramped, outdated 1960s space into a modern, highly functional retreat.
The project began with an extensive and challenging demolition phase. Homes from this era often present unexpected obstacles—thick mud-set walls, aging plumbing, and outdated layouts—and this bathroom was no exception.
Edwards Remodel Contracting navigated these complexities with precision, clearing the way for a complete reimagining of the space.
One of the most impactful changes was the relocation of the shower, toilet, and vanity. By reworking the layout, the team was able to dramatically improve both flow and usability, creating a more open and balanced environment. The new configuration allows each element of the bathroom to feel intentional and spacious, rather than confined by the original design.
At the center of the renovation is a custom-built shower that truly defines the room. Designed with both comfort and style in mind, this expansive shower includes a full-width bench, offering a practical place to sit or store essentials.
The bench top, along with the wall niche, half wall, and curb top, is finished in Silestone, providing a sleek, durable surface that adds a refined touch throughout the space. The consistent use of this material ties the design together while ensuring long-lasting performance in a moisture-rich environment.
The shower is enclosed with frameless glass, enhancing the open feel and allowing the craftsmanship of the tile and stonework to remain fully visible. This choice eliminates visual barriers, making the entire bathroom appear larger and more cohesive.
A floating vanity further contributes to the modern aesthetic. By lifting the cabinetry off the floor, the design creates a sense of lightness and openness while also offering practical benefits like easier cleaning and additional visual space. Clean lines and a minimalist approach ensure the vanity complements the rest of the bathroom without overwhelming it.
Another standout feature is the replacement of the traditional window with a colored glass block installation. This upgrade maintains privacy while introducing soft, diffused light and a subtle pop of color, adding character without compromising the serene atmosphere.
The result is a thoughtfully designed master bathroom that blends contemporary style with high-quality materials and smart functionality. What was once a difficult, dated space has been completely transformed into a bright, comfortable, and visually striking retreat.
